“There are many mental benefits to horseback riding,” Dr. Alison Stout, DO who has ridden since she was nine years old, adds  “There’s a confidence that comes from learning how to handle and interact with this huge animal. You really learn about yourself as you experience time on a horse.”

Riding horses requires you to be both physically and emotionally strong.  You of course cannot strong arm a 1000 lb animal to do what you want, but you must learn to persevere through challenging times.  This creates the mental and physical power that makes a successful rider not only in the saddle but in all areas of life.  The determination and discipline necessary to progress in this equestrian sport  makes the accomplishments so much sweeter and is an amazing confidence booster.

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” —Michael Jordan

“Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.” Peter T. Mcintyre

“My daughter, Sydney, has taken lessons at Abby Road with Sarah for the
past 2 years, riding saddle seat and hunt seat, and absolutely shines
when she is riding!  Sydney had no desire to participate i n school
sports, but riding has helped her gain confidence and really works her
entire body in regard to health, so we consider this to be a great sport
where she is concerned.  She loves the connection she has with the
various horses, especially Raven, and has found that riding reduces her
stress and anxiety where school is sometimes a concern.  I highly
recommend Abby Road for anyone who has a love for animals and wants to
learn more about horses.”
